The Stoneways team was delighted to join the annual gathering of the Yacht Brokers, Designers & Surveyors Association (YBDSA) including its constituent bodies Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA) and Association of Brokers and Yacht Agents (ABYA) for their AGM and Training Day on Hayling Island on 24 November.
The event combined professional development, industry networking, and a celebration of the community’s collective achievements.
The schedule was full and purposeful: AGMs for YDSA, ABYA and YBDSA provided a chance to reflect on the past year, discuss future direction, and ensure the Associations remain aligned with the highest standards of practice. After the formal meetings, icebreaker exercises offered a relaxed, yet valuable opportunity for brokers, surveyors and partner members to connect, collaborate, and strengthen their working relationships.
Following the networking session, attendees joined an enlightening training workshop. The training is a core benefit of YDSA and ABYA membership: both organisations emphasise continuing professional development (CPD) through seminars, workshops and professional standards. Stoneways own Managing Director, Keith Lovett, delivered an insurance update a timely, relevant topic reflecting current industry trends.
A very special moment in the day, when Keith along with solicitor Lucy Goff of Ocean Legal were both honoured with an Industry Award presented by the YBDSA Council. The award recognised their exceptional service to the Association over many years. Their nominations highlight sustained dedication, professionalism, and meaningful contributions to the marine community.
For Stoneways, attending this AGM and Training Day reinforced the value of membership in YBDSA / YDSA / ABYA not only for staying up to date with regulations and professional standards but for building strong relationships across the marine industry. Events like this are a reminder that behind every vessel, survey, and sale, there is a network of committed professionals working together to raise the bar.
